Taylor Selects Carefree Roses
Spring 2004 Issue of Peoples, Places and Plants

Steve Taylor, Sales Manager, Focuses On No-Spray Roses

[March 15, 2004] — Steve Taylor, sales manager for Sunny Border Nurseries and expert rose grower, recently showcased great no-spray roses in the Spring 2004 issues of People, Places and Plants.

Steve has been growing roses for over 15 years. Although he began growing hybrid teas such as 'Mr. Lincoln' and 'Peace,' he quickly tired of the weekly spraying ritual to keep them spot free. Thus he began his quest for beauiful and carefree roses for New England.

His article features the best varieties for carefree roses in the northeast, such as:
· Rose rugosa, the Beach Rose, single pink or white flowers on a rugged plant
· Rose 'Blanche Double de Courbert', an extremely fragrant double-white rugosa
· Rose 'Pretty Lady', a floribunda pastel with creamy blush pink flowers
· Rose 'Cape Cod', an upright shrub with clusters of single pink blooms
· Rose 'New Dawn', a repeat bloomer with blush-pink flowers
· Rose 'Aloha', with pink and salmon blooms from summer to autumn
